Holidays in San Francisco

Wish for once it snow
Why doesn't it snow (in San Francisco)?
Did God curse us with bad luck or something?
Maybe it's a blessing in disguise (to not have snow)
We can enjoy the cold sun,
We need a blizzard
So that schools can be shut down!
We can have fun in the snow
to make snow angels
Or snowmen
Or snowwomen
We can snowboard
Or ski
(We can go to the Swiss Alps for that!)
Why must we trek all the way to Tahoe for a good time in the snow?

Life's Too Short

Live it up...
Don't just dream of the impossible-
Make it happen!
Do the impossible!
Learn a new skill-
like flying!
Or invent something new!
Before life passes you by
As quick as a lightning bolt
Or as quick as many light years gone by
Life is just wasted on hopes and dreams-
Make it happen
For pete's sake
Before it's too little,
too late
Just grab ahold onto life
And take it for a ride!
Go on an adventure!
Be an adventure-seeker!
But for pete's sake,
Don't go on the fast course to nowhere!
Because you might end up losing,
Not winning...

Brittany Murphy, RIP

Wow, this is some shocking news:
Brittany Murphy died of full-blown cardiac arrest (at 32!)
so young, got her whole life ahead of her-I even read somewhere her new year's resolution is to have kids, but she lost that chance now (lost chances, lost chances).
She was an actress, but she wanted to expand her horizons to be a singer-make that a pop singer (as I said before, lost future, no hope for the future but wishes. What would she have done differently?).
I've no idea (until I read about online)
What a way to spend the holidays.
What a horrible, horrible tragedy...
Wish there was more to be done to save her life...
If only...
So sad that so many stars died this year.
What a sad year.
RIP, girl.

Film Review-Personal Effects

Personal Effects, starring Ashton Kutcher & Michelle Pfeiffer, is a very moving film. The outcome wasn’t a happy one. There were no ‘happily ever afters.’ It was a very sad movie.
It started when Linda, Michelle Pfeiffer’s character, met Walter and his mother Gloria, Ashton Kutcher’s character & Kathy Bates’ character respectively, at a support group for family members who were murdered. Walter’s sister was brutally raped & murdered and left in ditch somewhere while Linda’s husband was murdered in a drunken episode by one of his friend. He also was survived by his deaf son, Clay, played by a virtual unknown, Spencer Hudson. They not only knew each other through the support group, they saw each other in the courthouse for the murders of the respective kinfolk. Walter’s mother won’t go to the trial because she had to take care of her granddaughter, her daughter’s daughter. Walter came home after the murder of his sister to be there for the trial of her sister’s accused murderer. He dropped everything including being a college wrestler in Iowa to getting a dead-end job as a chicken for a fast food place. No, seriously! He dressed as a chicken, and all he got were rude comments.
Linda’s son had a lot of anger in him, pulling the gun-the only prized possession of his father’s that he had-on bullies and breaking windows of the perpetrator who killed his father. Thank God Linda gave the gun to Walter. Walter rescued Clay from bullies.0 When Clay pulled the gun on them, Walter took the gun away, and Linda gave it to Walter. Walter got Clay into wrestling as a way to deal with his anger about the death of his father and being deaf. He won his first match with Walter’s help. Yay! But half the time Walter wasn’t able to understand what Clay was saying since he was always signing (ASL).
Linda worked at weddings, but she got too emotional, crying all the time, so she decided to bring Walter along for the ride. Bringing Walter along helped her tremendously. When she started crying, he hit her. She was so surprised, she hit back. But when she didn’t stopped crying, he tried squeezing her thigh. Still, it didn’t worked. So he hit her harder, and she laughed through her tears. Afterwards, she continued asking him to weddings. No more tears! One time, at one of the wedding receptions, they got very intimate. Linda, the more experienced one, started it. But they didn’t stopped there.
Gloria wanted to sell her daughter’s stuff in a rummage sale, but she needed Walter’s help take out the stuff because they were too heavy. When the sale occurred, she wasn’t ready to part with her daughter’s things. At the end, she had no choice because the sale was final.
The verdicts were finally in. Suspense. On-the-edge-of-your-seat suspense. In Linda’s case, the verdict was guilty. The murderer was found guilty. But in Walter’s case, the verdict was found not guilty. The accused was sent home that day. He was acquitted. When Walter confronted him, he said that he was helping his sister at the time of her murder. When Walter found this out, he decided to go back to Iowa (he saw no point in no looking for the real killer),Clay felt unjustified that even though his father’s murderer was found guilty, his friend, Walter’s sister’s accused murderer was found not guilty, so he decided to take matters into his own hands. He was angry about the verdict, to say the least. No doubt about it. When Walter was about to change his mind about moving back to Iowa, he heard what Clay was going to do: he decided to exact revenge. He wanted to kill Walter’s sister’s accused killer, but Walter blocked the way. He saved the accused murderer’s life but not his own. Now, Clay was in prison for accidentally killing his friend. He was the one who had been narrated the whole movie.
Ashton Kutcher is an astounding actor! I never knew he has it in him! What a great perfomance! It is a very moving movie. He reached out to the young man and his mother when they needed him the most and vice versa. He was their rock. He was dependable, reliable, a shoulder to lean on when things got rough and good with Clay at telling him to go out for wrestling so that he can used his anger for good, but in the end, it was null. It didn’t work, as Walter had hoped. Clay was still an angry young man. At the world! At the unjustice of the world!
Clay used his anger at Walter’s sister accused murderer getting acquitted by seeking revenge. He accidentally killed the wrong guy; Walter tried to saved the acquitted’s life, but he died trying to help him. After Clay killed his friend, he spoke for the first time. He was sent to prison. Maybe being in prison’ll make him less angry towards the world.

Peer Pressure

I love making choices,
make the wrong choices
and you go down the wrong path
make the right choices
no fault could be put on you
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But if you, say, like, follow the wrong crowd or something much worse like peer pressure into doing drugs or drinking, and I'm not talking about drinking soda or something like that. I mean, drinking alcohol, you've make the WRONG choice.
If someone offers you a cigarette or some other form of temptation, JUST SAY NO and WALK AWAY. Also, DON'T HANG OUT WITH THE WRONG CROWD
Hang out with people who make you feel good about yourself; don't hang out with people who pressure you into doing something you know it's wrong or put you down for not doing bad deeds. No bad deeds go unpunished, as the saying goes.
Love in a Heartbeat
It feels like
I'm floating in the air
With every step I take
I meet you,
I anticipate your arrival,
My hopes are soaring high above
So high
Yet I can't reach it
It's out of my reach
Over yonder
Love is there
I know it is
But still...
I can't reach it
Why is it happening to me?
Why can't there be love for me?
Love...
It is there
Yet so far away
Modern Vampires
My take on today's vampires:
Aren't vampires supposed to live in the coffin
Live by the dark
And sleep during the day
so they can feed off humans' blood.
They're one bloodthirsty species.
You can't see their reflection in the mirror
But all that's a myth!
Today's vampires are oh-so-cute!
(Haven't they always been cute?
Unless you've been living in a cave,
you probably have seen Angel & Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Wasn't David Boreanaz cute?! I would think so cuz Sarah Michelle Gellar has the hots for him on Buffy. Me, I prefer Spike to Angel. Bad boys are a definite turn-on!)
They come out during the day
To make a killing on humans, any human would do
So that they can feed on their blood
They live, like, forever!
(Seeing decades, millennium, centuries past by
Feasting on humans with reprecussions)
The finer things in life...
Being away from San Francisco makes me appreciate the finer things in life
Such as:
The multi-cultural ethnicity
The colorful environment we have here in San Francisco (re: Castro District)
Friends & Family
Things we grew up with
Things we are oh-so-familiar-with
Things that are near & dear to us
Things that we can't bear to part with
(Please, no, don't leave it behind!!
Otherwise, I'll regret it forever!
Sad to say, no regret is wasted on days ahead...)
Europe!
Europe was fun! It was enticing! The sights were senic to say the least! I wish I can stay longer so that I can soak up the culture even longer. Man, oh, man it was great fun!
Wonder where are we going next?! Can't wait for our next adventure! We even went to the Swiss Alps! To London to visit the Queen (lol, not really)! We had Belgian waffles! We saw the Effiel Tower! We crossed the London Bridge! And saw the Tower of London! not to mention the Tower of London Bridge! And the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy! Also we went to Milan! In Venice, we went on a gondola ride! We went to Rome (it was our 1st stop-our last stop was London!) In Rome, we went to the Colosseum and Vatican and St. Peter's Square. (This space is too small to fit in to all the places we've been in Europe.)
A great time was had by all! What can I say about Europe that hadn't been said before? It's a great vacation spot, to say the least. I wish we stay longer cuz we were pampered European-style! The beds in hotel rooms were just right-so unforgivablely soft-it's impossible to wake up from! But we were always rushing anyway-we weren't able to enjoy the vacation really cuz we were part of a tour.
The food-it was great esp. the pasta in Italy (but the pizza was ok)! The Chinese food was ok! We ate lots of Chinese food-incredible, isn't it?!-but the tour was Chinese, so what can I say? The aforementioned waffles was good not bad! We mostly ate McDonalds-Good ol' McDonalds! Of the whole entire trip, I only saw two Starbucks-isn't that crazy?! There's is only one Subway!
I can't find Westlife, a boyband from Ireland in a Virgin store (yes, they still have Virgin over there.)
On the minus side, you have to pay for everything, and I don't just mean the purchases-I mean the extras like the bathrooms! The only place you don't have to pay for the bathroom is London. Our tour guide said it is cuz Europe is poor. Yeah, right! As if! I don't believe it for a second!
So there's Europe for you!
