America's Septuplets Turn 13

America's 1st surviving septuplets-that's 7 kids-just became teenagers. Warning: parents, lock up your little ones up! Just kidding! Although one of the teen girls has cerebal palsy-CP-everybody else is normal and fine. She doesn't let that stop her from living a normal life. Get ready, McCaughey parents, for a teen angst and all that being a teenager issues. Though there may be ups and downs to being parents of a teenager, try being a parents of 7 teenagers (including your oldest makes 8)!
Be courageous because remember as the Pat Benatar song goes, love is a battlefield.

Inspiring Stories

Life is so fill w/ inspiring stories... You just gotta know where to look for 'em!
There's a coupla of inspiring stories I'd like to mention, so here goes:
People with disabilities can do a lot of things including create wheelchairs called RoughRider for Whirlwind that help wheelchair users navigate rough areas whethere it's urban or rural (ie.:  rocks, grass, mud, broken concrete, wooden planks and last but not least gravel). Originally RoughRiders were designed (by SF State students and taught by a guy in a wheelchair 'cuz he's paralyzed) for developed countries, they decided to send some of their best wheelchairs over to Haiti. Before the wheelchairs came, Haitians were dying left n' right due to massive pressure sores. But when the wheelchairs arrived, not one died.
The students are now designing wheelchairs for children who were born with cerebral palsy and spina bifida. These kids were carried to school till they became to heavy. Even if they did made it to school, they can't stand for long, so they had to lie on the floor. Therefore, the students at SF State are creating a wheelchair that put handrims in the kids' reach so they can drive themselves and an adjustable feature that helps the kids grow into the chair.

Here's my second awe-inspiring story: A young woman, Kathleen Martinez, is an advocate for her peers in the disability community. She is a champion, a hero, well in this case, a heroine. She is the voice of the disability commuity.
What makes her amazing isn't what she says, it is because she doesn't let her disability (blind) stop her from doing what she loves. She has overcame many obstacles to get to where she is today. (She serves as the head of the US Dept of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy). Although she's blind, she used her other senses during her time at SF State: She was into the speech and communication dept. It gave her a lot of strength and courage to go forth in the real world to pursue a career. She is on the Alumni Hall of Fame.
Her profs challenged her intellectually. She wanted to do a paper on supporting the passage of ADA, but her prof says what kind of burden it'll have on the businesses
After SF State, she stepped out into leadership roles at World Institute on Disabiltiy in Oakland. She directed Proyecto Vision, a national tech assistant centre to increase employment opportunities for Latinos w/ disabilities,  & Access to Assets and asset-building project to help reduce poverty among people w/ disabilities. She became exec-director of the institue in 2005. She also served on the National Council on Disabilty, the State Dept Advisory Committee on Disabilty and Foreign Policy, and on the board of the US Institute of Peace
In 2009 Pres Obama nominated and was confirmed by the Senate to be sassistant secretary for disability employment policy.
Her goal is for all people w/ disabilities to get a productive citizens of this world by getting a job.

What Guys Like in a Girl

Guys like a girl
who drives a slim, sleek, hot sports souped-up lowrider
w/ all its hardware intact
including interior leather seats
that bumps and grinds
just to show off to the guys
pump it up, baby!

Note: Maybe I'm describing a guy's dream girl and not a car at all!

Latest Newest Coolest Cars of 2011

The latest newest coolest cars of 2011 are coming!
They are mostly supercars-racecars for drag racing- sports cars like Mustang, Ferrari.
Most of 'em are convertibles. They're like, totally awesome, dude! (Sorry for the surfer dude-speak, but whatever...) Wish I can drive, but even if I can drive I can't afford 'em. They would set me back like up to $3000. I guess a really hot top of the line convertible costs a lot of dough. Not like a say a Dodge. Now that kind of car would set me back like $200 cuz Dodge aren't very nice cars.
Man the Ferrari looks stellar! It was so sweet! Couldn't afford it though! Got everything. Also in the list for top car is a Ford, a BMW(duh), Buick, VW, Chevy, Mercedes Benz (of course) McLaren.
I love sports cars, and I want one of these days (if I ever get a license).
On yourmark
                     get set
                               go!

Don't Ask, Don't Tell

The Don't Ask, Don't Tell law banning gay military servicemen & women from enclosing that they are gay or lesbian has been lifted! That law or should we say ban? was discriminatory anyways. Hiding sexual orientation, which is what law says for you to do, is against the law. Hiding your past like your criminal history is against law, so it's wrong to hide your sexual orientation. Ending the don't ask don't tell law is a stepping stone to other facets of gay dimension. Next there'll be a federal la for gay marriage. I mean, it happen with the desegregation of the military and look where we are now...
And it's all thanks to Pres. Barack Obama! Thank you, Pres. Obama! Now our gay servicemen and women can served our country openly; they needn't hide in the closet anymore, so to speak
It's a celebration for all sides since both Republicans and Democrats voted to end the Don't Ask, Don't Tell military gay ban. One for the team!

First X-mas

It'll be the first X-mas for my nephew, Brandon, my older brother Kevin and my sister-in-law's son  Born in Feb., he'll be 10 mons since yesterday. Precious baby. Their first baby and my parents' first grandchild. There may be more in the future or may be not 'cuz they have a handful with this one.
Baby Brandon just went to visit his grandparents on his mom's side in Taiwan over Thanksgiving.

At my new house, we have a new pup and new kitten. They are both beautiful in their own ways. But the pup is a total homewrecker. As for me, I'm a cat lover. I don't mind the cat. But I don't much like the dog. He's a small thing but annoying nonetheless.The pup won't leave me alone! The kitten is just awfully friendly.Perhaps a little over-friendly?!

A week till X-mas!

Yay!
A week til X-mas!
What great fun! Can't wait!
Just wondering-r u guys good all year-round or r u good during X-mas season?
Better say the first one 'cuz you just can't be good only during the holidays- you gotta be good all year-ronnd!

Christmas is Comin'

Eight more days till X-mas!
I can't hardly wait!
X-mas may be over-commericalized (is that such a word?), but it's still fun to anticipate the good times we will be spend w/ our families together despite the economy
Some people like helping others while others have nowhere to go :(  No family, no housing. In these harsh economic times, we must pull thru together by helping each other. It's not about selfishly giving presents to our families but about caring about others less fortunate than us.
God Bless us & May our Hearts be Bountiful this Season!

Bellagio Robbery

There was a robbery @ the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas by a motorcyclist. He stole some of the gambling chips that were not even worth much cause they got codes on 'em. The security believes it was an inside job 'cuz he knew which table had the best, most highest chips there was, so if you go to next time, be on the lookout for any people who might try to rob you blind. Don't get all crazy gambling like there's no tomorrow.

Cavalier Revue

As a lil girl, I loved horses, but this horse circus brought back my love of horses full-force!  I guess I never stop loving horses!
The horses were so-there's no word in our English vocab to describe it-but immaculate comes to mind!
I love the mirage of the carousel that make it seem like they were flying.
And I also like the part where the guys were jumping off the horses as horses were moving- the guys were doing sidesaddle and such.
I like the big strong white horses with the big long tails and manes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
I would like to add a non-horse theme, more X-masy theme: 9 more days till X-mas!!
Christmas Countdown
10 more days till the inevitable!
Oh  yeah baby
As of now, the Christmas countdown has started! Can't hardly wait! I'm counting down days till Christmas! As I count down the days, I also count down the hours, minutes, seconds and so on and so forth.
I love Christmas! Even if it doesn't snow here in NorCal (though I wish it did!), it rains (I love the rain dontcha? It's the next best thing to snow. I love the refreshingness of it all The wet, cold weather may me feel frigid, but I love it. (I'm sounding like dog w/ a wet cold nose and that's what I sometimes have when I'm cold, besides a sore throat, but nuff about me) Guess what? Rain tastes like ice from the sky. That's ice for thought. LOL!
As I learned from my years in Catholic school and church, the true meaning of Christmas isn't the presents or Santa Claus (as if there ever was one!-it's a child's myth, is all), it is Jesus' birth.. Jesus is the son of God and the virgin mother Mary, her husband was Joseph who was Jesus' adoptive father.
Film Revue: Burlesque
Burlesque was phenomenon at its best! This was the most spectuacular, most original musical ever unlike some of the most recent musicals as of late: remake from the John Waters classic Hairspray or the old Broadway revival of Chicago, this ain't. At least I know that Hollywood can be original. (Hollywood and originality in the same sentence? Something we haven't seen or heard of a lot lately, but Burlesque topped it all!
Christina Aguilera was great. She was so wonderful. Her singing, not to mention her acting, was beyond wonderful. There is no word to describe how wonderful she was. One thing I gotta say about Christina Aguilera-she sure has an incredible voice-a real powerhouse. She got nothing on Cher.
On the other hand, Cher may be a wonderful actress, but she's a washed-up old-timer when it comes to her singing ability. She doesn't sing like she used to with spunk and power. She has just this deep baritone, which means she is giving a real effort to try to sing with real emotion.
Plus, there's a backstory: Cher's character, who's the owner of the nightclub Burlesque, is trying to save it from being sold while Christina Aguilera's character has men troubles since she just arrived in LA to expand her horizons, so to speak, and doesn't know who to trust.
I don't wanna give out everything, but I wanna let y'all know everything turn out for the best.
Don't let this movie revue stop you from going to this movie. Enjoy and have a good time!
Justin Bieber's New Movie Never Say Never
Yep, that's right-y'all read it right!
JB has a new movie coming out about his life. It's an inspiring story about his life- about never giving up when things get tough- when the tough gets going, the going gets tough or something like that. It's about a rags-to-riches story. As he said the other night on TV, he 'just  a normal kid living a dream.'
It may be a doc-showing his life before he got famous via his home videos, but it's still amazing that he was plucked from obscurity like from a billion other kids from YouTube just 'cause he got (singing) skills.
Even I want to go, the tix for the exclusive sneak preview is sold out. Can't you believe it!?! They make it like a concert in 3-D (like Hannah Montana 3-D) only diff is that they show home videos and everything before he turned famous.
Call me a cynic, but aren't you supposed to be dead or do something infamous or achieve something more before there's a movie made about your life. I mean, he just started becoming famous, for pete's sake! This must be some crazy, crazy (hectic!) year for JB!
First he became famous thru his music by singing a Chris Brown song on YouTube of all places, where he was discovered. Then he started to work with Usher among other famous artists (Sean Kingston). And then there's Bieber Fever! More like Bieber Mania! Crazy! Life is getting better n' better for him lately. He won AMAs and got nominated for Grammys. Next up: his movie about his life.
Let's Get this Party Started!
Back in the days, (ah those were the days!) way before hippies and the psychedelic era (60s) and love-peace era when everybody was everybody else's love child, there was the beatniks. the more civilized era. The era of Merry Pranksters and Kerouac and Cassady and Allen Ginsberg (of Howl). They live in communes They were non-conformists. They were my kind of people They were part of Be-In. They took over SF, esp Haight Ashbury. That resulted in the hippies era-love peace and LSD. Also mary jane (marijuana). That led to the Summer of Love. We had Summer of Love; East Coast had Woodstock. Then came the war (the Vietnam War, that is) protests were CRAZY! Today's protests of the Iraq were much tamer than the protests of the Vietname War. Tear gas was used. Arrests were made. UC Berkeley made a stand against the war and that started a whole much of protests around the nation including Kent State.
Before the beatniks (50s), the era was old-fashioned. Men looked dapper all the time; women look glam-slam Every outing was a big event. They actually wear formal attire everywhere even to meet up with friends. The women, especially, were spoiled by their men. They weren't allowed to tan, so they carried a parasol or wear a bonnet. They also wear gloves to protect their porcelain skin. They weren't allowed any strenuous activity like the boys were. Girls can only knit, sew, and read (and daydream!)
Boys, on the other hand, can get away with many things like getting dirty but they do many abundant chores to keep themselves occupied like taking care of the horses (wish we girls can do that!), play sports (girls weren't allowed, no fair!)
But one thing boys and girls, men and ladies, no matter the age group, were allowed to do together was dance. With each era, dance forms change, some for the better, some for the worst. It changed with the times.
Life + love
 Life can't flourish without love, as this quote from the famous Oscar Wilde dictates:
Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead. The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and richness to life that nothing else can bring.
Oscar Wilde
You need these 3 things in order to survive in life (nope, not 3 wishes!)
To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone and a funnybone.
Reba McEntire
Have a heart that never hardens, a temper that never tires, a touch that never hurts.
Charles Dickens
Another take on 'stop & smell the roses,' as this following quote goes:
Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying:
And this same flower that smiles to-day
To-morrow will be dying.
Robert Herrick
You how people backstab even their best friends to get to the top of the glass ceiling or to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Well this quote (rather old-fashioned cause no one plays on their way to the top of the social ladder.) says you should play nice on the way to the top of the social ladder:
Be nice to people on your way up because you'll need them on your way down.
Wilson Mizner
Love Quotes & More
Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye.
H. Jackson Brown
To the world you might be one person, but to one person you might be the world.
Source Unknown
I am nothing special of this I am sure. I am just a common man with common thoughts. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, that has always been enough.
Nicholas Sparks
I love these love quotes. But here's one of my own:
Love in past, present & future
Love always & forever & ever
All is fair in love & war
To thus, love shall conquer all
And everything shall perish
                                            without love
we shall fight to the end
In the end
               Love shall superseded all
It will be the end all-be all
Love is boundless
             everlasting
                               eternity
Reach for the love energy
                                        that radiates off of you
The pain of love
Love is excruciatingly painful at times. This quote says it all:
Love is much like a wild rose, beautiful and calm, but willing to draw blood in its defense.
Mark Overby
I know how painful love can be 'cause I've been burned by loved before
Love-let me count the ways
This love quote reminds me of a Taylor Swift song:
Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot, who calls you back when you hang up on him, who will lie under the stars and listen to your heartbeat, or will stay awake just to watch you sleep... wait for the boy who kisses your forehead, who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats, who holds your hand in front of his friends, who thinks you' re just as pretty without makeup on. One who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares and how lucky he is to have YOU... The one who turns to his friends and says, thats her...
I wish there's a guy like that for every girl (like me!)
Hope there's a match for every starcrossed lover!
The meaning of love
Got the holiday blues?
I know, there're the worst.
Well, here's a lil something-something to cheer you right up:
The real meaning of love
Pick me right up
What is Love?
Our favorite description of love is from the movie Captain Corelli's Mandolin:
"Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two."
-St. Augustine
To love & happiness in the coming years and beyond!
May it be kept unspoiled from temptations and sin and betrayals (maybe I've watching way too many soaps lately-real life isn't like that!)
