Burlesque was phenomenon at its best! This was the most spectuacular, most original musical ever unlike some of the most recent musicals as of late: remake from the John Waters classic Hairspray or the old Broadway revival of Chicago, this ain't. At least I know that Hollywood can be original. (Hollywood and originality in the same sentence? Something we haven't seen or heard of a lot lately, but Burlesque topped it all!
Christina Aguilera was great. She was so wonderful. Her singing, not to mention her acting, was beyond wonderful. There is no word to describe how wonderful she was. One thing I gotta say about Christina Aguilera-she sure has an incredible voice-a real powerhouse. She got nothing on Cher.
On the other hand, Cher may be a wonderful actress, but she's a washed-up old-timer when it comes to her singing ability. She doesn't sing like she used to with spunk and power. She has just this deep baritone, which means she is giving a real effort to try to sing with real emotion.
Plus, there's a backstory: Cher's character, who's the owner of the nightclub Burlesque, is trying to save it from being sold while Christina Aguilera's character has men troubles since she just arrived in LA to expand her horizons, so to speak, and doesn't know who to trust.
I don't wanna give out everything, but I wanna let y'all know everything turn out for the best.
Don't let this movie revue stop you from going to this movie. Enjoy and have a good time!
