Sororities are a Sham!
Boy was I glad I wasn't in a sorority back when I was in college!
Did ya read the article about the fashion & beauty rules at Cornell's sorority, Pi Phi, that they issue out (the rules were linked onto the Internet) Here's the link: http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/beauty/mean-girl-fashion-and-beauty-rules-at-cornell-sorority-no-mustaches-or-muffin-tops-636982/
The rules were set up for the pledges not for girls who are already in the sorority. But it is still unfair! I mean, who dictates what we should or shouldn't wear? Or how we should or shouldn't look? I mean, who does that (excluding the celebs, I'm talking about us commoners, us common folks, etc)? Do they think they're the fashion police?
Public figures' actions get scrutinized, natch. And that includes the way they dressed, beauty and fashion-wise (Fashion police alert!) What they say, do, even think get scrutinized. Even if they so much as blink, they get scrutinized and criticized. They changed they ways b/c they're 'role models.' Yeah, right. Some public figures don't act like role models; they act more like someone you look down on, someone who is disgraceful to our generation. The way they party all the time, but not all celebs party (here's looking at you,Hilary Duff & Miley Cyrus!) The ones who party can't be a good role models (ie.: Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan), yet little girls look up to them anyways. Why is that? They may think they're cool. But they're so not cool when they have a nervous breakdown aka a meltdown that's reported online (TMZ).
Sorry I digress... How did we get from one soroity that want to conform us to be more fashion & beauty appropriate for the pledges?!

Holidays-Gotta Love 'Em!
Where should we begin?
There is Presidents' Day, celebrating both Lincoln & Washington's birthdays.
Then there's Valentine's Day, which is just another commericalized holiday,, (which include Christmas & Thanksgiving-the mainstream media want you to spend, spend, spend). People can buy flowers/candy or just simply write a poem any day of the year; it doesn't have to be Valentine's Day. Why does it have to be
V-Day of all days? 'Cause it's romantic. It's not romantic when some mainstream media tells you to buy such-and-such on such-and-such a day.
Then there's Chinese New Year. This year's the Year of the Tiger. As a Chinese-American, I can't hardly wait for the festivities to start! I wonder who'll be chosen for this year's Miss Chinatown... Little wonder, huh? When they finally, and I do mean finally choose the Miss Chinatown of San Francisco, natch, they'll have the Chinese New Year Parade! I can't wait!
All of these holidays, this year, happen to fall on the same day.
And also, even though the Winter Olympics isn't a holiday, it is happening around the same time (Opening Ceremony Feb 12)
On an unrelated note, the Expo is coming to Shanghai in October; I've haven't been since '87. I wanna go.
Enjoy the rest of the winter! I, for one, will surely, without a doubt, will! ;P

Bike Polo
I read about bike polo in Jane (a defunct mag but whatever). It sounds fun. It's like regular polo but instead of using horses, you use bikes. It's the latest thing to do, dontcha know? Back when Jane wrote about it it was 2007. They had someone from their staff go out and do the sport (if that's what you called it), it was probably not as popular yet. Now, we can play like the royalty, only without the horses! Cool, huh? I mean, you savvy?
If you want to find out more about bike polo, either go to the regularly scheduled matches on Mondays & Thursdays at 7pm in Dolores Park (beware of the crackdown for unpermitted & unauthorized athletic activity, which carried a 5 citation and $103 fine) or Sunday at 2pm on Golden Gate Park's Speedway Meadows
Enjoy!;P

Be Careful...
...in your own neighborhood!
A murder occurred in the dead of the night (OK, afternoon, but still) in my neighborhood (Sunset District, San Francisco. And I thought this was a safe neighborhood like Richmond (the district not the city) as compare to Mission or even Mission Dolores (sorry-but Mission just isn't safe, to me anyway), but I guess it isn't... I guess nowhere is safe. Nowhere but nowhere is safe. Define safe for me, please and I'll show you a safe neighborhood. Cool? ¿Ya comprende? Anyways, what once thought was a safe neighborhood isn't anymore 'cause of the recent murder.
You gotta be on your toes at all times. You gotta be aware of your surroundings...or KAPOWIE!!!
You get into major trouble if you're not careful. So be alert and on at all times. Otherwise, your life-not to be a party pooper-might flash right right before your very eyes.

San Francisco
Lately, there are a buncha songs written about New York, stuff named after New York. Like New York is one big ab fab city. I disagree! I think San Francisco is hot stuff! way better than ol' New York! So here's a mini-poem about San Fran:
San Francisco
It has
Multicultural,
Multiethnicity,
Multiracial,
Multisexual-orientation.
Mixed that all in you got the entertainment mecca of the West Coast!
